Are files encrypted on my phone?
Yes. Private Photo Vault® uses AES encryption for photos and videos stored locally in the vault. The separate app passcode controls access to the app; encryption protects the stored files.

HOW IT WORKS
What encryption does Cloud Vault add?
Your files are already encrypted in the app. If you enable optional premium Cloud Vault, they receive another AES-256 encryption layer locally before upload. A key derived from your Cloud Vault password protects that layer. The password is never sent to our servers, and our team cannot decrypt the backed-up content.
Choose a strong cloud vault password
Cloud Vault uses Argon2id for password hashing. Choose a long, random, unique Cloud Vault password to make guessing the derived key harder. Save the password somewhere safe: our team cannot recover it. Local storage does not require enabling Cloud Vault.
Common questions
Can your team see my photos or videos?
Our team cannot view your vault photos or videos. For Cloud Vault content, we do not have the secret needed to decrypt your backup.
Does AES encryption require Cloud Vault?
No. Local files use AES encryption. Cloud Vault is an optional premium backup and sync service with an additional encryption layer.
